We finally got the David Njoku game that we all thought was going to become a common occurrence after the Browns parted ways with three players who bungled midfield a year ago. After the departures of Austin Hooper, Jarvis Landry and Rashard Higgins tended to clog concepts a year ago in the short game, and with their departure the Browns were able to spread out their passing offense a bit more.

Njoku’s numbers have increased every week over three games in 2022, including a massive performance for 89 yards and a touchdown. The day he caught 9 of Brissett’s 10 targets. Expect this volume to be the norm in the future for the young tight end.

Against the Steelers, Njoku was able to frame nickel-and-dirt cornerbacks, exploit the seam with his explosive vertical and rack up athletic yards after the catch. The payday Njoku received is worth it almost exclusively based on the rare breed of athlete he is his size.

As his production against targets has been extremely effective over the past two seasons, Njoku is proving to the Browns right now that he sees more targets. It continues this week.
